Specimens from Devils Head may on occasion be labeled the "Virgin Bath," or "Long Hollow". These are the names of two specific sites within the Devils Head district from which good pockets have come in the past.

In James R. Mitchell's book Gem Trails of Colorado, Mitchell discusses the Devil's Head area. "Some of the best topaz crystal collecting in the entire state of Colorado is in a somewhat condensed region near the Devil's Head lookout tower, a few miles southwest of Sedalia. ...The topaz can be obtained by screening the soft soil or by directly attacking the host rock, in hopes of exposing a crystal-bearing cavity....Everything from beautiful smoky quartz and topaz crystals to colorful feldspar can be found."
